Summer Hours– John Stewart Elementary School will be open throughout the summer Monday-Thursday from 8am-12:00am, and 1:00pm-3:00pm.Office staff will be in the office, and able to assist with any registration needs. Please note that current semester milk prices will remain in effect until 8/24/16. After this date, the milk fees will be increasing.
The tradition of 5th grade Clap-Out will continue this year. On the last day of school, 5th graders will parade through the John Stewart hallways with all of their underclassmen cheering them on, and wishing them well as they head to middle school. Parents are welcome to join in this celebration by lining the sidewalk in the front of the building. After moving through the interior hallways, the 5th graders will continue their parade outside among cheering parents. The celebration will begin at approximately 2:15pm on May 25th. Parents please wait outside and be ready to cheer!
A huge “THANK YOU” to one of our Brownie Scout troops for giving back to their community this week by taking on the Beautification Committee task of planting in front of our school. They worked hard to clean up the planters, urns and flower beds surrounding the flag pole. They also worked with Kate at Wiltse’s Farm to plan what flowers would work best for our planting area, sunlight and water needs. Wiltse’s generously donated additional flowers and plants to double what we had! THANK YOU Wiltse’s!!
If you see one of these amazing girls, be sure to let them know what a great job they did! And then run out to Wiltse’s to thank them as well! They are way more than just delicious sweet corn!!
Our recent assembly, The Mousetrap Machine by Smartpants & Company, was featured in this week’s Elburn Herald. This assembly brought the science concepts of the 5 simple machines to all students in such a fun way! Take a look!!
The following is an article shared by a parent. The article lists companies that offer rewards and incentives for students earning good report card scores. Now, we know Kaneland doesn’t have the traditional A,B, or C type grades on our report cards, but there grade scale is reflected on the report cards and most of these companies will honor that. We have not verified all of our local places, but wanted to share since report cards were just posted! Enjoy!
We continue to collect Box Tops from students each and every day and let me tell you….it helps!! Our volunteers submitted box tops in December in return for a check worth over $900!!! January’s box top submission brought in almost $400!!! That is a lot of money coming back to support PTN actvities and events for KST students! A big thank you to our volunteers who clip all those box tops and to the families who send them in. Each month, a student’s name is drawn for a small prize just for bringing in their box tops from home. So…keep ’em coming!
Need a handy place to keep them? Print this collection page to hang on the fridge!
John Stewart parents! We are looking for a few adults to help us in several different areas. Please vist our Volunteer page to see if you are available to help us in any of these ways. THANK YOU! PTN cannot run without you. 🙂
